Job Description
Established in 2017 in Irvine, California, Gamma Interactive is a game studio specializing in VR/AR. Founders have entrepreneurial background, with over 50 years of executive experience software, VR, AR, mobile, web, and game production. The company is currently working on a stealth project which aims to disrupt the VR eSports scene!
We're looking for a candidate to take our weapon concepts and bring them to life through the entire pipeline – high poly, low poly (for Oculus and Pico platforms) and materials. This is a remote contract/freelance position that has the potential for extension.
Responsibilities:
- Creation of high-quality, 3D weapons and materials
- Sculpt/model, UV & texture, high & low polygon meshes in a PBR pipeline
- Work with stakeholders and our Concept Artist to make sure designs are practical and realistic for use in Virtual Reality
- Modeling, texturing, (we will handle rigging and implementation) of weapons for Unreal Engine 4
- Track the creation process, identify problems, and recommend solutions
- Ensure performance and technical quality of assets through testing and iteration
- Optimization of assets to fit technical requirements
- Other related-duties as necessary
Qualifications
- A portfolio which demonstrates excellent Weapon Modeling art skills
- Understanding of real-world weapon 'anatomy' (i.e. bolt clearance for ejection, stock height, etc)
- Experience in creating content for use in virtual reality
- Unreal Engine 4 & AA+ game content creation experience
- Excellent knowledge on the game art pipeline
- Ability to manage weapon creation from concepts to the detailed and finished product
- Ability to adapt semi-realistic sci-fantasy art style
- Excellent modeling, texturing, UV layout, PBR materials (and baking for mobile)
- Expert skills in Blender / Substance Painter or equivalent
- A keen eye for composition, shape, color, and detail
- Ability to participate in meetings and regular collaborative sessions
- Fluent in English, both verbally and written
