Position Overview

Virtual and augmented reality are transforming the workplace through immersive and collaborative experiences that will impact how major segments like architecture, engineering, construction, manufacturing, and entertainment converge. These industries are being transformed by XR technology that can foundationally improve the way teams design, review, and collaborate.

You will be part of the Autodesk XR product team responsible for building and delivering XR workflows to the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction industry (AEC). This multi-disciplinary team is operating in a start-up mode within Autodesk with autonomy on product, sales, strategy, marketing, and operations.

You will report to our Head of Product for XR and will be responsible for technology strategy, architecture, and decisions that will shape our development and operations. You will rely on best practices and seek new strategies to push the limits of possible and innovate within the Autodesk ecosystem.

Responsibilities
  • Research, design, and document our system architectures including data, software, analytics, integrations, algorithms, and any other complex systems.
  • Inform and educate the Product team about technical risks and opportunities relevant to our system.
  • Become an expert in the Autodesk Platform. Share your knowledge and become an evangelist.
  • Understand our customers, their workflows, and pain points. Advocate for technical solutions to their problems.
  • Work closely with Design, Engineering, and Product Management to ensure alignment and excellent culture on the Product team.
  • Work with the Marketing, Sales, and Customer Success teams to ensure we are providing them with relevant data to make them effective with customers.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to stay informed and align on the latest developments in platforms, standards, integrations, and workflows.
  • Help the engineering team to deliver value on a regular cadence to the stakeholders using agile methodologies and principles.
Basic Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of experience architecting, designing, and delivering cloud-enabled software.
  • Experience with AWS services, best practices, and design patterns.
  • Experience designing data warehouses and creating useful and intuitive business intelligence solutions that leverage them.
  • Excellent understanding of Design Patterns, Object-Oriented development, and Data-Oriented Design
  • An early adopter with a passion for excellent software and deep knowledge of current solutions.
  • Excellent oral and written communication with various stakeholders and teammates.
Preferred Qualifications
  • C++ optimization / debugging and experience with Graphics domain profiling tools
  • Experience with Unreal Engine
  • Advanced multi-threaded programming skills
  • Familiarity with 3D & BIM files, formats, and optimization
  • Experience programming XR applications
  • Knowledge of build and deployment technologies, such as Jenkins, CMake, Docker containers, and Python
