Role:
We seek a Research Assistant that will work with our multidisciplinary team at Meta Reality Labs’ Burlingame office, where our goal is to explore, innovate and design novel interfaces and hardware subsystems for the next generation of virtual, augmented, and mixed reality experiences. In this role, you will work with Research Scientists to run study protocols to collect neural, physiological, and behavioral data from study participants. We want people who are excited to work on new technology areas, work well with cross-functional team members, and establish good rapport with study participants.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Conduct experiments from beginning to end (involving: recruiting participants, scheduling participants, pre-briefing participant, obtaining participant consent, instructing participants through study procedures, running the procedure, monitoring participant and system behavior, debriefing participants, ensuring data is uploaded correctly, run automated analyses on uploaded data)
• Troubleshoot and communicate with cross-functional team members if hardware and software-related issues arise to improve study procedures and experience
• Coordinate user study approval process, which includes managing general documentation of study protocols, coordinating IRB approvals, extensions, and reviews, and interfacing with a multidisciplinary team of researchers and engineers
• Meet with partner teams (safety, legal, compliance, etc.) to obtain latest guidance and enforce best practices within the team
• Run weekly experiment and lab operations meetings with the team to answer any questions and assist as needed

Top 3 must-have HARD skills:
1 Expertise in conducting human behavioral experiments (HCI, psychology, neuroscience, cognitive neuroscience, etc) and ensuring data quality
2 Expertise in Microsoft and Google Office/Productivity Software

Good to have skills:
1 Expertise with programming languages and tools (e.g. Python, terminal, etc.)
2 Expertise with specialty biometric equipment, such as EEG, fMRI, fNIRS, EMG


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Completed Bachelor’s program in a human behavior related field or similar (HCI, psychology, neuroscience, cognitive science, etc)
• Experience conducting human behavioral experiments (HCI, psychology, neuroscience, cognitive neuroscience, etc) and ensuring data quality
• Experience coordinating and maintaining schedules across multiple teams and managing shared resources


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience with programming languages and tools (e.g. Python, terminal, etc.)
• Experience with specialty equipment, such as EEG, fMRI, fNIRS, EMG
• Experience collecting physiological data
