About The Role
The XR Architect is responsible for designing 3D applications for simulation and interactive 3D visualization within the Manufacturing IT organization. The role entails working with a team of AI, 3D, and robotics engineers to improve the vehicle manufacturing process. This is an exciting opportunity to use tools that are typically used in the video game industry but are rapidly becoming relevant to the automotive industry. The ideal candidate will have experience with 3D development.

We are looking for an XR Architect who:

- Enjoys collaborating with multiple teams and vendors across multiple disciplines in a fast-paced and exciting environment

- Good understanding of generating and curating large amounts of immersive content
- Is proficient in User Experience within immersive technologies
- Can design solutions for multiple platforms with minimum overhead
Specific areas of responsibility include:
- Developing interactive MR and VR visualization applications with Unreal Engine/Unity for several different devices (I.e., Microsoft HoloLens 2, iPad, Android)
- Collaborating with Engineers from multiple disciplines, at all levels of knowledge as well as vendors, and customers to create innovative VR/MR tools to increase productivity
- Design multi-user 3D and immersive solutions
- Building pipelines to perform incremental and complex transformations of 3D content
- Integration of immersive solutions with a variety of traditional enterprise applications
- Optimization of content for specific compute levels and-or network throughput requirements
- Constantly research and adopt new frameworks, solutions, and approaches
Preferred Skill Set/Experience:
- 10+ years in the software engineering industry
- 5+ years of experience with Unity 3D and/or Unreal Engine
- Experience developing interactive applications for virtual reality and/or mixed reality (e.g., HoloLens/Magic Leap)
- Excellent knowledge of UX for immersive technologies across multiple platforms-devices
- Prior Tech Lead, Dev Lead, Software Architect, or equivalent experience
- Proficiency in C/C++, C#, Java, and Python
- Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, and complexity analysis
- Proven experience in cloud technologies, including Docker, Kubernetes, and High-Performance Compute (HPC) clusters
- Strong knowledge of 3D modeling software (Blender, Maya, Siemens NX, etc.) and ability to manipulate 3D geometry
- Strong problem-solving skills and persistence to push through
