Lead Application Engineer
The opportunity:
As a Lead Application Engineer, you will design and develop software solutions tailored to WestRock business needs. The solutions you engineer will be used by internal and external facing customers and provide considerable business value. You will be engaged in various projects ranging from the Recycling mobile application to Capital Planning Expenditure Request Form to eCommerce. As an Agile development team member, you will have significant influence over the development of new software at WestRock.
How you will impact WestRock:
- Collaborate with Product Owners, UI/UX, DevOps and QA team members on subjects from design to deployment.
- Update team management regularly on new methods, tools and practices to support rapid software development and maximize team productivity.
- Create technical specification documents (flow, ERD, etc) based on product owner requirements.
- Estimate, prioritize and plan work items (epics, features, work items, tasks) to be handled during sprint/iterations.
- Participate in creating and amending development standards, guidelines, and services for common use by other internal software development teams.
- Provide technical leadership and cross-training to peers in areas of expertise.
- Lead, mentor, and coach junior team members.
- Continually hone and share knowledge of available tools, process, and methods with the team.
- Most importantly, you will code. You will code like a champion.
What you need to succeed:
- BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject or related experience
- 10+ years of hands on Java development experience required
- 3+ years of SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL
- 2+ years maven and SpringBoot development
- 2+ years JavaScript UI development (Agular JS, ReactJS, Type Script)
- Experienced in developing Restful, SOA-based, microservices applications
- Experience working with container tools and big data a plus
- Experience working within Agile/Scrum development teams
- Experience working with Agile tools like Azure DevOps or JIRA
- Experience with IDEs like Eclipse, RAD, VS 2017 and source control in TFS or Git
- Experience with Tomcat, Glassfish or WebSphere
- Experience with ASP.NET and C#, .NET Framework and .NET Core a plus
