The Engineering Applications Department (EAD) develops a wide variety of innovative tools and applications to support civil, commercial, and national security space systems. From virtual and augmented reality, to web, cloud, and desktop visualizations; EAD evaluates and creates unique visual experiences that present data and analysis to key decision makers. We are looking for a Unity developer that can join our team. As a Unity Developer, you will be working with the team to transform complex engineering prototypes and concepts into modern animations and gaming applications.


This position is a hybrid role and will work partially remotely with some onsite work required (1-2 times/week) in El Segundo, CA.


What You’ll Be Doing


  • Work with the developers and artists to add assets and functionality to existing space applications
  • Ability to set up and design new projects that can be deployed to multiple platforms – Windows, Linux, VR/AR headsets
  • Collaborate with developers to streamline backend data tools into game engine interfaces/applications
  • Support industry leading engineers and scientists in the development of immersive technology applications to enhance collaboration and understanding of space concepts


This position can be filled as a Unity Developer (Associate Member of Technical Staff or Member of Technical Staff)


What You Need To Be Successful


Minimum Requirements for Unity Developer - Associate Member of the Technical Staff:


  • B.S. in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or related B.S. in game design, and/or related subject area.
  • One or more years of experience programming in python, C# or C++
  • One or more years of experience developing with Unity Game Engine
  • Experience in version control software
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and handle numerous projects at once
  • Experience communicating concepts to a variety of engineers, management, and customers
  • Ability to work both independently and/or collaboratively within a team
  • Good written and verbal communications skills
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance issued by the US government. US citizenship is required to obtain a clearance.


Minimum Requirements for Unity Developer - Member of the Technical Staff:


  • B.S. in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or related B.S. in game design, and/or related subject area.
  • Two or more years of work experience programming in python, C# or C++
  • Two or more years of experience developing in Unity Game Engine


How You Can Stand Out


It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:


  • C++, Qt, OpenGL, WebGL experience is highly desirable
  • Experience in developing AR/VR experiences
  • Understanding of physics-based movements and an interest in space
