Company Overview

Goony is a startup on a mission. Our aim is to end loneliness by forging new connections and communities through the creation of an event based application that hosts multiplayer augmented reality tournaments. So how does it work? We at goony create theme based gaming tournaments which take place in public venues. Our users signup to these thematic events over our application, and converge at designated event locations at specific times. When users arrive to a event location they are paired up, given the instructions of an AR base mini game, and compete with one another to advance to ensuing rounds. Although all participants will receive prizes, common NFTs and experience points, the top three finalists will win amazing prizes including monetary rewards, exclusive NFTs, and discounts to top brands. It’s our belief that by creating competitive, fun, in person gaming tournaments we will facilitate the creation of friendships. To this aim, a host of digital communication features will be integrated into the goony platform including a friending system and a short messaging service. Through the bundling of gaming, in person events, and digital communication features we are redefining social media to truly build community and bring the world closer together.

Role Description

Goony’s Network Programmer is tasked with coding the backend infrastructure needed to enable multiple users to play our Augmented Reality based mini games with each other. This role will require an individual with a strong understanding of network protocols and client/server engineering. In addition, applicants should have a strong understanding of games engines, server engineering, and open systems interconnection. We’re looking for individuals currently pursuing their undergraduate degree or have recently graduated. Applicants must believe in the mission of the company, be willing to contribute their technical skills to the startup, and have novel ideas to further the mission of our company.  Hired applicants will be awarded with equity, and salary once our seed stage funding round has concluded.
