The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) team is seeking a Systems Engineering Technician to join the team in Houston, TX. The selected candidate will be responsible for performing engineering and technical activities in support of design, verification, and operation of the International Space Station (ISS) for multiple NASA sites and customers, including Johnson Space Center, Marshall Space Flight Center and Kennedy Space Center. The optimal candidate works well with a team and is a self-starter with the ability to work independently. Must possess good communication skills, both oral and written.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Human Factors design and operations for Space Exploration programs.
  • Develop and document hardware label plans that meet requirements.
  • Support hardware development, including requirement definition, design review (drawing or model), and verification.
  • Supports systems/specialty engineers in defining requirements, developing trade studies, performing analyses, and controlling associated data and information.
  • Gathers, tracks and analyzes reliability, maintainability and health monitoring data. Participates in failure reporting. Assesses and verifies maintainability design.
  • Coordinates the development of certification and aviation regulatory proposals and plans and verifies compliance to requirements.
  • Develops and supports implementation of certification processes, tools and procedures.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R

  • 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required skills/experience):

  • Bachelor Degree or higher in an engineering or science related field.
  • 1 + year of experience in human factors engineering.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired skills/experience):

  • Experience with CAD models
  • Experience reviewing engineering drawings
  • Experience working with NASA Standards
  • Experience with NASA programs
  • Experience performing engineering evaluations with mock-up hardware
  • Experience with requirements and requirement verification
  • Experience with Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR)
  • Experience with NX (CAD)
  • Experience with Augmented Manufacturing (3D printing)

Typical Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree and typically 2 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a Master's degree with experience in an engineering classification. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
