Summary

The Technology Development Group (TDG) is looking for an AR/VR Designer/Prototyper to help us shape and craft the next generation of interactive applications for our platform. This team is working with some of Apple's most advanced technologies including augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), machine learning (ML) and computer vision (CV). As a member of our organization, you will drive exploration of future products that will delight, inspire, and empower millions of people.

Key Qualifications

Self-starter with a passion and curiosity for AR/VR, building with new technologies, and making things better for people

Proficient in iterative UI/UX design, including sketches, wireframes, concept, and feature development in close collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders

Experience prototyping for and collaborating on spatial/immersive design problems (VR, AR, game design, etc.)

Experience with rapid prototyping, with a good intuition and communication in making time vs. complexity tradeoffs

Ability to thrive in a collaborative working environment within your team and beyond

Excellent visual, communication, and presentation skills to help others understand design rationale and product decisions

Attention to detail, creativity, and passion

2+ years of experience creating UI and interactive experiences for a variety of shipped products

Description

In this role, you will investigate, concept, and prototype new experiences for AR using evolving technologies. Your work will help shape and inform our future products. We have a real passion for new technologies and product development, and you will work closely with other Apple designers, artists, and engineers to craft transformative, empowering experiences for Apple audiences. The ideal candidate for this role has a strong background in designing human-centered experiences in an ambiguous space and is comfortable working in a dynamic and creative environment. You should be able to balance customer needs with technical constraints to help translate and realize the team’s ideas. You will join projects at varying stages of production, ranging from research and concept, to rapid prototyping, to polishing and optimizing UI/interactions, working closely with partners to ensure a high-quality product. This role requires attention to detail, curiosity, adaptability, and thoughtfulness as you produce beautiful interactive concepts, while navigating through unusual technical challenges.

Education & Experience

Degree in Computer Science, Human Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Information Science, Interaction Design, Digital Media, Game Design, or Equivalent industry experience.

Additional Requirements

Nice to have: Proficiency with tools such as Sketch, Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro

Nice to have: Understanding of 3D content principles and hands-on experience working with one or more 3D engines and/or APIs, such as Unity, Unreal, ARKit/RealityKit

Nice to have: Experience with and passion for 3D tools such as Cinema4D, Blender, Maya, Houdini

Nice to have: Familiarity with SwiftUI and/or iOS development

Nice to have: Knowledge of design principles for Apple products (MacOS, iOS, etc.)
