Home Outside is a VC-backed company founded by celebrated landscape designer, Julie Moir Messervy. Her mission is to democratize sustainable landscape design. The company has launched successful digital products including a top 10 lifestyle iOS app and an automated plant pairing service with Proven Winners. Leveraging expertise in AI, AR, and landscape design, we aim to transform 50M US yards into thriving outdoor spaces that conserve over 50B lbs of carbon each year. We have been outsourcing software development with an offshore team, and are now building an in-house technical team to develop new features like shade estimation, improve the user experience, and expand the marketplace to visualize more types of products.

Role & Responsibilities

1. Develop a compelling 3D landscape visualizer for web, mobile, and AR
2. Orchestrate the process of modeling 3D assets for our customers including plants, outdoor furniture, fences, landscape lighting, and more. 
3. Script layout and placement rules to automatically create beautiful front and back yards
4. Develop and test intuitive experiences that give people meaningful choices, but not too many choices

Qualifications & Skills

1. Master’s in CS or relevant field 
2. 2+ years experience developing games in Unreal
3. Experience authoring shaders, tuning 3D assets, and applying lighting and animation effects programmatically. 
4. SpeedTree, AR, ML, and ArcGIS knowledge are a big plus

Compensation

1. Starting base salary of $90 - 120k
2. Performance incentives for on-time, successful releases
