In this role our engineer develops, creates, and modifies general computer applications software or specialized utility programs. The Qualcomm Computer Vision SW team is actively engaged in offering optimized visual analytics solutions in SW and HW for enabling use-cases spanning various business units. We are seeking ambitious, bright and innovative software engineers and to-be leaders to be part of this effort. Job activities span the whole product life cycle from early R&D prototyping to commercial deployment. The environment is fast-paced and requires cross-functional interactions on a daily basis, so good communication, planning and execution skills are a must.

The job title level will be determined based on experience and education.

The Ideal Candidate For This Role Will Have
  • Hands-on experience developing and optimizing kernels and algorithms on heterogenous architectures, imaging and vision accelerators.
  • Solid hands-on software design and development experience on complex embedded computing platforms.
  • Strong programming experience in C/C++, as well as hands-on experience debugging complex embedded software and with version-based tools.
  • Ability to contribute to all phases of software development - bring-up, design, deployment, and customer support.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with engineers, partners and customers, and across the different geographical sites and technology domains (Software/firmware/hardware).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in embedded system software development including kernels, device drivers and board-support packages is desired.

Responsibilities of the role are: Design and implementation of vision and image processing pipelines on Qualcomm SoCs and platforms, closely collaborate with cross-functional teams (SW/FW/HW) and domain/technology experts to understand and define specifications, and serve as feature owner for software design/implementation/commercialization, and integrate/validate software in a larger system. Actively engage with internal clients (Camera/Video technology areas), OEMs, Tier-1s and ISVs to implement solutions based on of Qualcomm Computer Vision offerings.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 6+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.

OR

Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 5+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.

OR

PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
  • 3+ years of experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science or related field.
  • 12+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
  • 3+ years of experience with Database Management Software.
  • 3+ years of experience with API.
  • 3+ years of experience working in a large matrixed organization.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities
  • Gathers, integrates, and interprets information across sub-systems from a variety of sources in order to troubleshoot issues and find solutions.
  • Serves as a technical expert within area of focus.
  • Identifies gaps in design, effort, etc., and closes the gaps.
  • Identifies risks associated with designs, approaches, and other work efforts.
  • Collaborates with others inside and outside of project team to accomplish project objectives.
  • Solves complex technical problems that affect significant areas of product.
  • Makes decisions based on incomplete, contradictory, and ambiguous requirements and information that affect policies and multiple teams in the software development process.
  • Manages project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables for larger projects.
  • Acts as a tech lead on projects and owns the outcome of the project.
  • Leads others with technical credibility.
