Product Design Director

As Product Design Director, you’re a leader who is comfortable setting direction for your team by utilizing insights, building consensus with peers, and aligning with stakeholders. You’ll lead the product discovery process with our manufacturing customers and work closely with product managers, developers, and UX / UI designers to deliver outstanding products across web, mobile, and head-mounted display (HMD) platforms.

You’re a gifted communicator who can articulate challenges and work with partners to develop solutions. You are versatile, comfortable with uncertainty, and can lead teams to effective outcomes.

Your Team

You will be joining a global team of interdisciplinary experts from Augmented Reality, Artificial Intelligence, UX / UI, Engineering and Product Management. Your partnerships will transform complex concepts into simple, intuitive and adoptable products.

The Design Team is responsible for creating the user experience and interaction paradigms for revolutionary Augmented Reality products. As a design leader, you will be responsible for working closely with your team to establish best-practices that ensures our solutions work at scale.

Your Day-To-Day

• Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and engineers to prioritize product functionality and deliver valuable, high-quality products
• Partner with other Design Directors to ensure consistency in the work, and clarity in roles and responsibilities
• Manage a team of highly skilled designers to deliver best-in-class solutions for our manufacturing customers
• Lead user research and observation at customer sites and generate insights about our customers emotional and functional needs
• Implement design operations process and best practices across the product organization
• Synthesize design work and present outcomes to executive stakeholders
• Work directly with designers to enhance low-fidelity and high-fidelity prototypes in the form of sketches, storyboards, concept art, UX flows, and UI elements
• Generate solutions across all of PTC’s products to enable our customers to leverage the “digital thread”
• Contribute to a design-forward culture by evolving our design system, product design, documentation, and information architecture approach
• Foster a highly positive and collaborative team culture

Skills and preferred qualifications

• Experience developing enterprise SaaS software
• Mastery of digital design tools such as Figma (preferred), Adobe Creative Suite, InVision or Sketch
• Experience leading design for Mobile and Web (HMD a plus!)
• Must have a portfolio with examples where you contributed / lead the design direction of a shipped product(s)
• Previous experience managing and mentoring global / US based teams across multiple time-zones
• Familiarity with AI, CAD and Manufacturing a plus!

Basic Qualifications

• 7+ years experience
• BA, BS or BFA
