The Pipeline Engineer acts as a bridge between the artists and programmers, ensuring the art content and features are easily integrated into the VR training modules, while respecting the artistic vision and technical constraints of the project.
Your day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Facilitate creation of art content through tooling and automation
- Establish standards and best practices for asset creation
- Work closely with Software Engineers outside of the Art Department for integration
- Develop specifications for features and/or tools development from other departments
- Investigating and implementing rendering techniques, and Unity shaders
- Primary technical support for artists
- Supporting the art team in achieving performance requirements
- Shader and lighting optimization
- Collaborate closely with the team and participating in stand-ups, meetings, critiques, and reviews
This is the right opportunity for you if you:
- Have 3-5 years of experience in a pipeline engineer role for mobile devices
- In-depth understanding of computer graphics fundamentals (data structures, image processing, etc)
- Have extensive knowledge in 3D content creation (rigging, modeling, shading, etc)
- Python and C# programming as a general purpose language and associated API’s
- Extensive hands-on experience with Autodesk’s Maya and the Maya API
- Experience with Unity
- Have previous experience with shader development in a game engine
- Are able to self-manage and multi-task
- Are comfortable/respectful of viewing graphic surgical procedures and guides as reference material
- Have excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Have an understanding of healthy critiquing and how to motivate and elevate others
- Have an interest in, and passion for, the medical space and Virtual Reality
- Are empathetic, compassionate, and motivated by mission-based work
Preferred qualifications:
- VR development experience
- Android 3D game development experience
- Oculus Quest development experience
- Experience writing technical documentation
- Experience training other team members
- Experience using git in a production pipeline
