GLMV has two awesome opportunities for a visualization specialist who enjoys exploring, learning and applying a variety of still and animation visualization technologies. The best candidates are also educated in and experienced with architectural visualization.


Visualization Specialists participate in design and design development using a variety or rendering, animation, VR and AR tools to create compelling 3D client/stakeholder experiences that translate the essence of unconstructed spaces designed to meet their needs. This position will collaborate with other design professionals in architecture, landscape architecture, interior design, and site development. The visualization specialist will keep up with new developments in visualization trends and software while honing talent and skills to specialize in specific forms seeking excellence in results. This position will join a team of similarly creative and talented colleagues creating all aspects of mixed media deliverables, for internal and external end users, under the direction of the Visualization Division Leader.


Responsibilities


  • Collaborate with design teams to produce renderings for site, building, and space design presentations.
  • Determine the right visualization techniques, procedures, and modifications for each client based on research and innovation while holding to budget constraints.
  • Create dynamic visual images of building concepts in various graphic mediums to showcase design.
  • Create both static visualizations and animations.
  • Create custom texture maps.
  • Set up animated camera paths.
  • Set up and monitor rendering and animation frame progress.
  • Collaborate directly with designers during design development phase to ensure accuracy and incorporate design modifications while preparing 2D/3D illustrations.
  • Assist with the development and/or modification of new design options.
  • Create both static visualizations and animations.
  • Plan and manage own work to meet deadlines
  • Investigate, evaluate, and help division keep up with and implement the latest visualization technologies
  • May create and work with existing 3D models.
  • May set up lighting and environments, setting still cameras.
  • May provide guidance and quality control to in-process renderings done by our design teams.
  • May provide training sessions to teach our staff what you know.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Considerable knowledge of rendering and post-processing techniques for 2D and 3D visualization.
  • Knowledge of and passion for emerging architectural visualization technologies, including VR/AR.
  • Understanding of the nature of visualization technologies.
  • Basic modeling skills in SketchUp or similar program such as 3dMax, Rhino, or Aftereffects.
  • Ability to push the limits of visualization technologies for optimal outcomes.
  • Ability to interpret and build detailed 3D models from 2D CAD plans, apply procedural textures, and render complex scenes.
  • Ability to learn the technical vocabulary needed to communicate with a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Ability to plan and organize overlapping project schedules to meet multiple deadlines.
  • Proficiency with the following tools: Revit, Sketch Up, Enscape, Lumion, Adobe Suite, and Photoshop
  • Familiarity with some of the following tools: 3DS Max, Unreal Engine, TwinMotion, Enscape, and Vray Rhino and Blender are a plus Virtual reality is a plus
  • General knowledge of building materials, design and construction practices is beneficial.
  • Physical requirements essential in the job include: Visual acuity with respect to clarity, ability to recognize small details with precision, and color vision; manual dexterity to operate a keyboard and mouse efficiently and effectively; ability to communicate orally and in writing using a variety of computer based audio-visual tools; and occasionally lift, carry, push, pull and/or set up A/V and computer equipment weighing up to 50 pounds moderate distances, with our without aids such as wheeled dollies.

  • Experience and Credentials

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture preferred. Degrees in related fields, such as 3D visualization, CGI, computer/3D graphic design, or construction graphics technology, will be considered.
  • A portfolio of architectural visualizations, still or moving, and/or similar work that demonstrates an eye and talent for excellent outcomes and skill and knowledge with technology.
  • Some experience in architecture or related field.
  • Experience with illustration software (e.g. Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator).
  • Experience with SketchUp and Autodesk CAD platforms, particularly Revit, preferred.
  • Experience with polygon/subdivision modeling software (e.g. Blender, 3dsmax, Maya, C4D) preferred.
