The AR/VR Research and Technology Partnerships team is seeking a Partnerships Manager to lead research and technology partnerships at Reality Labs. Your job is to work with leading researchers and technologists to figure out who to partner with and to define what virtual and augmented reality would look like 5 years in the future. You'll be part of a multi-disciplinary, cross-functional team pushing on every aspect of the experience: optics & displays, audio, haptics, computer vision, display technology, and whatever else we can dream up. Our mission is to keep advancing virtual and augmented reality; the work you do here will lay the foundation for VR/AR experiences for years to come.

Partnerships Manager - AR/VR Research Responsibilities:

  • Execute on partnerships for research and technology exploration initiatives that can materially accelerate adoption of technology in next generation AR and VR products
  • Identify, define, negotiate, and close complex IP and joint-development deals with startups, research institutes, public companies, and other ecosystem players innovating in AR/VR optics & displays, audio, haptics and related fields
  • Work cross-functionally with legal, finance, and engineering teams to negotiate deal terms, drive special projects, and advocate internally for partners
  • Develop technology and company landscapes in new technology areas
  • Identify and source new hardware and software technologies and companies

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience leading cross-functional teams to orchestrate and complete deals
  • Experience with structuring and negotiating the business, technology and legal aspects of partnership agreements for development, joint development, IP licensing, and more
  • 5+ years of business development experience with a track record of working with partners working on technologies and bringing them to market
  • Experience interpreting legal documents, negotiating contracts and working with attorneys to complete agreements

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience and knowledge of the AR/VR industry, with specific knowledge of optics & displays, audio, haptics or related technologies
  • Creative, resourceful, detail-oriented and highly organized
  • Degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Optical Engineering
  • Proven analytical, communication and presentation skills with technical, contractual and financial issues
  • Experience in establishing relationships and presence within the consumer electronics sector with proven experience reaching and exceeding goals
  • Experience operating with flexibility in a fast-paced, constantly evolving and collaborative environment and working effectively cross-functionally with all levels of management, both internal and external
  • Experience building partnerships for new hardware products including managing complex processes and end-to-end negotiations
