In this highly visible position, you will model and analyze architecture/micro-architecture and performance of Qualcomm’s leading edge Digital Signal Processor (DSP) with many industry trending applications in modem, machine learning, IoT, automotive and many others. This role requires very deep understanding to computer architecture/micro-architecture, system architecture, memory architecture, and other processor architecture along with proficient software development and modeling skills.

Responsibilities But Not Limited
  • Oversees architecture, design, verification, and performance analysis for Digital Signal Processor (DSP) development for Qualcomm Mobile, Machine Learning, Automotive, IoT, and other products
  • Determines processor architecture, micro-architecture, logic design, verification, and all performance and power aspects.
  • Applies high-performance microprocessor design concepts including multi-core, multi-threaded, out-of-order, cache memory, high-speed ALU, and advanced low power design. Evaluates all aspects of the design process from instruction set architecture to implementation.
  • Identifies and models new custom instructions set is needed to achieve industry-leading results in machine learning and modem.
  • Applies tools and techniques to evaluate design tradeoffs and verify design correctness.
  • Uses system tools such as architectural simulators, digital design simulators and emulators, test generators, and design synthesis.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Masters/Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • Academic and/or industry project experience in Computer Architecture and Micro-architecture
  • Good software development skills
  • Good communication skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • Academic and/or industry project experience in Computer Architecture, Micro-Architecture, Memory Architecture, Performance Modeling, Performance Analysis, Workload analysis
  • Ability to develop cycle-accurate processor performance models

Programming Languages
  • C, C++, Python, Perl

Physical Requirements
  • Monitors and utilizes computers and test equipment for more than 6 hours a day.
  • Continuous communication which includes the comprehension of information with colleagues, customers, and vendors both in person and remotely.
