Minimum qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience working in a hardware technical environment, or 7 years of experience with an advanced degree.
  • 5 years of experience in technical leadership.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience in shipping consumer or industrial hardware products.
  • Experience specifying lenses and physical optics, and understanding of optical systems tradeoffs.
  • Experience or knowledge of high speed design (e.g., peripheral component interconnect express, Universal Serial Bus, Mobile Industry Processor Interface, etc), System on a Chip, Field Programmable Gate Array.
  • Understanding of camera sensor architecture, noise, and performance characteristics.
  • Excellent analytical, documentation, lab, and computer programming skills.

About The Job

As a Virtual Reality System Engineer on our team, you will work with the latest silicon, and display technologies in a small team environment and with talent across the full spectrum of technology disciplines (e.g., hardware, software, computer vision, machine learning, Human-Computer Interaction). We build real-time 3D capture and 3D rendering systems to enable applications and products.

The Google Augmented Reality team is a diverse group of experts tasked with building the foundations for great immersive computing and building helpful, delightful user experiences. We're focused on making immersive computing accessible to billions of people through mobile devices, and our scope continues to grow and evolve.

Responsibilities

  • Translate product goals to hardware and software requirements.
  • Organize, plan, and execute all stages of product development from concept, prototype, and product launch.
  • Display and maintain understanding of the relevant computer vision algorithms and in augmented reality/virtual reality.
